Attack on Journalists : A Threat to Freedom of Press

It is been said that Media and journalism is the 4th Pillar of the democracy and there voice matters a lot and it's a fact that they plays an important role in the making and destruction of the Governments of many countries that is why many governments tries to suppress media that is the power of media but today many people beleive that it is in danger and the reason is that some days back in State of Karnataka one of the Left Wing Journalist Gauri lankesh was shot dead in her house her death shook the entire entire India and after his dead One of the leader of Indian national Congress Rahul Gnadhi gave a staement to press that "Whososever will stand against BJP & RSS will die" he gave this statement because Gauri Lankesh was one of the criticizers of BJP, RSS and other right wing organisations active in India she was also considered as an Anti establishment activist because she was a leftist and we all know that how Right wing and Left wing hates each other from last many years but still i don't understand that without any invesigation how can they say that and there are many angles in this story 1st angle is her own brother Indrajith has said that from past many days she was getting threating from Naxalites another angle says that she was going to expose some big corrupt businessman so they killed her and some are also blaming his brother due to their personal issues so what is truth no one knows that but today in this modern era India is considered as Unsafe place for journalists in the world by some people and Press Freedom Index shows India position 136 out of 180 in Freedom of Press this is an unfortunate thing In Indian state of Assam 32 reporters have been killed from 1987 to so far and there no punishment to anyone in these murder cases so far (Source: Nava Thakuria, Secretary, Guwahahati Press Club)  moreover nationwide 21 reporters are being murdered after 2012- Present  and last year in 2016 4 journalists were murdered including Joginder singh, Hemant Yadav and Brijesh Kumar

In Many cases Reporter are being murdered Some case are being listed below
1 Murder of Rajiv Ranjan who stand against Shahbuddin (one of the gangsters in Bihar)
2 Ram Chandra Chattrapatti who stood against Gurmmet Ram Rahim (Chairman, Dera saccha sauda ashrama)
3 Bakshi Tirath Ram
4 Shiv Bhatnagar
5 Irfan Hussain
the list goes on
There was one more incident which happened in Delhi in year 2016 when a group of lawyers attacked Kanhaiya Kumar in a sessions court and in this many media men were thrashed by the lawyers see the one eho studied law and taken oath to serve the law were taking law into their own hands there were many cases where the journalists were thrashed one of the most biggest example is of Ashutosh, Former Managing Editor, IBN7 in 1997 when he was working with Aaj Tak he got slapped by Kashi ram (Founder of Bhujan Samaj Party) and later his supporters attacked him but some female journalists over their saved him and on that Incident he said after 18 years that "Patrakarita mein likhne se saath Pitna bhi padta hain" but according to an Indian website there were 142 cases of attacks on Journalists from 2015-2017 and committee to protect journalist has claimed that in 24 years 70 journalists were killed in India which is very unfortunate thing

India is having potential to be the hub for the news and media because large of registered newspapers and news channels in more than 20 languages and here Linguistic diversity of India has also played an important role  and now many believe that it is in danger

India is the one of the most peaceful countries in World and it is a sure thing soon we all Indians will solve this issues because still there are many Anti Government reporters are active in the Mainstream media which we all are well aware so it will be a great thing to see
